Notice to all Users: We are in the process of converting the web site from Adobe Flash to HTML5. These instructions are for the older Flash viewer. New instructions will be written describing the improvements of the new HTML5 viewer.

Histology Guide uses a simple browser-based interface to view large images of microscope slides and electron micrographs.

Slide Viewer

Each slide has been scanned in its entirety to create high resolution images (up to 32 GB for an image of 150,000 x 75,000 pixels). The experience of using a microscope is recreated using an intuitive browser-based interface to allow fast changes in magnification and panning of high-resolution images.

Click the following image for instructions on how to use the viewer.

EM Viewer

Electron micrographs have been scanned in its entirety to create high resolution images (up to 350 MB for an image of 12,000 x 10,000 pixels). These images are viewed using an intuitive browser-based interface to allow fast changes in magnification and panning of high-resolution images.

Electron micrographs are collected as grayscale images. To aid their interpretation, most of the images have been colored to hilight structures. The viewer allows rapid switching between the grayscale and colored images.
